Finally the RA training camp is done!

I had been worrying about the training camp for a long time because the memories of last semester camp were terrible ><
However, it turned out well! The 10-days camp worked pretty much well and i could see most of the RAs ended up the camp with a big smile on their face. ^^ (including me)

W/C building members inauguration ceremony photo ^.^

I still remembered last semester when Gano asked me whom I would like to be my partner and what building i wouldnt wanna move to, in an individual interview with every RA, i answered “pair me with a new RA and i dont wanna go to W/C! "

Well, here I am. in W/C building and partner with a senior RA - Muti  @@
I hated Gano sooo much at that time.
But later he told me the reason "because i want you to work together with me, i think we can change the W/C!"
Then I felt so glad that I was chosen by him.
Now, i love W/C and our members ^^ Thanks Gano.

I love W/C because many of us hold the same value - to have fun as a RA.
I felt happy working as a RA for the first time since i joined W/C !
Thanks guys! you guys are so amazing ^^

As senior RAs, we have cooking master Dai (Japan), Idea maker Gano (Korea), naive babies Sky & B.E (China), caring politician Andre (Germany), serious but friendly Muti (indonesia), Hikaru (Thailand), big Oppa Han (Korea).
Everyone is soooo lovely and unique! God i love you guys <3 (infected by Han, starting every sentence with "god" xD)

As new RAs, we have quiet dancing queen , Funny german-speaker Japanese Wakana(Japan), tall-like-a-valley ball-player Hiromi (Japan), and Korean love affair consultant Soo Min (Korea).
You guys are so easy going and make the building atmosphere warm ^^ (and above labels on your name are all my first impression on you. No offense ><

Top Models of RA

In the last session of the RA training - Sharing times, where everyone can stand at the middle of 64 RAs and speak out their feelings, I heard a lot of comments about "being yourself".

I was so happy that many senior RAs spoke about this because last semester, nobody said about "being oneself" but only about "rules, motivation, experience"

No, this is not supposed to be like this. The root of every topic in this organization should be "being youself".
Since last semester when i joined this organization, everyone kept talking about "you have to keep your motivation", " you are role model", "you have to keep manner"....etc

OMG, whats wrong with this? I personally dont like the say that "RA should be strict, no fun during meeting"

I agreed with those points, especially rules and manner. but why couldnt we have a little fun or more casual atmosphere during meeting? Who says "A little fun during meeting will ruin the atmosphere of thinking seriously?"

Some RAs think we should keep the manners and be serious bla bla bla. The reason is:
1) to experience the real working environment
2) to be professional
3) to be role model
4) others

I agree with those points but why not we have a little bit more flexibility? I would like to give some comments to above points.

This is not a real job which is involved with profit of company or competition. This is an assistant job. We are working together to make AP house life more shining, happier. First of all, if we are not happy, how can we make residents happy? (being happy and being no manners is different. I liked this semester training because we enjoyed and worked seriously together) Who say a real working environment should be no fun? Remember this is APU, the value of working environment varies from person to person.

In a discussion, you think making response while ppl speaking is "rude", but Malaysian thinks making response is "to make confirmation and to help develop the conversation".
Okay, you told me "Shen you are KY". huh? is that KY from the perspective of Japan? what about Malaysian perspective? excuse me, in my perspective, making response is a proper way to discuss things.

So what Im trying to say is, to be yourself. We have different backgrounds and values, we dont judge others value as correct or wrong. I am Malaysian value, i like to make response and have a little fun while im speaking, no matter officially or privately. If my making a lil joke during discussion would not influence the output, why not we have a lil bit more casual discussion?

So if you tell me to stop making joke = lose myself = hate this organization = motivation down = not happy = not cooperating well with any works

Why not we accept a little joke in the speaking? It doesnt influence the quality of our work. Because from the moment we were chosen as RA, we, 64 of us, should be knowing how to work professionally and have fun crazily. If you need a rule to say that "no joking during meeting, no laughing when ppl talking", sorry i dont think you should be chosen as a RA. (if RA is considered a professional organization)

Of course, above ideas are based on RA organization.
There are various different companies in the society. It can be more stricter or casual environment.
But what im trying to say here is -  RA is not a company, we should work with fun, with keeping the basic common manners, but adapting to each other characteristic and values.

Don't ever say "RA should be.....bla bla bla " in front of me again. (i mean being punctual, separate work and fun, etc are not included in this sentence)

Because there is no standard to limit you.
If a RA organization in which 64 RAs have the same values and manners is requested, I suggest AP house office to recruit only Japanese people. (of course it doesnt seem to work well too coz even Japanese people have different diversities)

I like the team under leadership of Aya, Itsumi and Gano.
Even though some senior RAs who have seen the previous RA team tradition would say, you are ruining the RA quality, but i dont think so.
Its time to welcome a new RA team, isnt it? As long as AP house life is happy, and activities keep going on, the atmosphere or system within RA organization should be appreciated.

Its just like a government. When the government changed, of course there will be some ppl dont like the new government, some like. but what can you do? follow the new government policies right? even though you dont like. Of course a state is a bigger unit, that people can actually stand against the government but,
RA is a small team, we dont need a military coup to overthrow the current leader, we can choose to adapt ourselves to the new team system, just like what i had been doing in last semester.

So for those who dont like Aya, Itsumi, Gano system, im sorry you have to bear for a semester because the majority of us like it, i can see. When you get right down to it, the leaders were chosen because the majority votes from us. I hope you will like it soon. :)

Ganbatter Aya, Itsumi, Gano and thanks for changing the organization!

A word for everyone :

It's better to be disliked for being who you are,
than to be loved for being who you are not.
